Montebello is a suburban city on the outskirts of East Los Angeles. It borders other LA-adjacent or near-LA-adjacent cities like Monterey Park, Commerce, and Rosemead, and it runs pretty far south, touching Bell Gardens and Pico Rivera as well. Montebello is LA County's version of Everytown, USA; it is primarily residential, very community oriented, and held together by a blue-collar backbone. Montebello is predominantly Latino—nearly 75%, in fact—which is very typical of the eastern LA suburbs. As you might expect, bilingualism is common and phenomenal Latin-American food is easy to find.
Montebello has a fairly large and fairly popular shopping center just off the 60 freeway, but most of the city's charm stems from small neighborhoods. As far as green spaces go, Whittier Narrows lies just to the northeast, affording Montebello residents access to golf and other outdoor leisure. The city itself is not especially walkable, but its Metro station connects directly to Downtown LA
