West Covina is a large and populous city in the central San Gabriel Valley
region of Los Angeles County. It is bordered by nearly a dozen cities, most prominently by Walnut, Covina, Baldwin Park, and Valinda. West Covina is a commercial destination for many residents of the surrounding area, largely owing to its shopping centers: Plaza West Covina, The Heights, and Eastland Center. The city is also home to Citrus Valley Medical Center (Queen of the Valley Campus), which employs more than 1,700 people and keeps the area bustling with activity.
West Covina is relatively ethnically diverse and exhibits a spectrum of classic/authentic, fusion, and new-age eateries. With more than a dozen local parks and recreation areas, not to mention the San Gabriel Mountains and Angeles National Forest a ways to the north, West Covina residents enjoy reasonable access to green spaces. West Covina is not especially walkable or bike-able, and going west to Los Angeles typically involves a trip on the 10 or 60 freeways. Other prominent local throughways include South Azusa Ave. and East Cameron Ave.
