North Hills is a neighborhood in the northern/central San Fernando Valley
region of Los Angeles. It straddles the 405 freeway east of Northridge
and west of Panorama City
. North Hills has been, at various points, a Spanish mission and an agricultural commune, but it is now a part of the City of Los Angeles with a population of over 50,000. Residents enjoy easy access to most of the major freeways checkering the Valley—the 118, 405, 5, and 170—so centrality and accessibility are perks, at least with a vehicle.
Walking, biking, or busing around the area is feasible, but not especially convenient; North Hills has dead-average scores in each of these transportation categories. Golfers will enjoy the Mission Hills Golf Course right in North Hills itself, and the neighborhood is also just a ways north of the Sepulveda Basin and Lake Balboa
, which are phenomenal green spaces for leisure. Other primary local throughways include Nordhoff Street and Woodley Ave.
