Upland is a midsized city in the northern Inland Empire
region of Southern California. It is surrounded by Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario, Montclair, Claremont, and San Antonio Heights. Upland's most defining characteristic is probably its close proximity to the San Gabriel Mountains; with a glance to the north, residents can experience a fairly stunning view, or after a short drive, they can set their feet down upon a relatively unblemished patch of nature.
Upland was once a part of Historic Route 66. These roots, mixed with the city's reputation as a hub for professional skateboarding and the youthful vibes emanating from the Claremont Colleges consortium immediately to the west, make for a local Upland culture that is very much worth exploring. Upland is also home to Cable Airport, a Class G airport that can send small, private aircraft to low altitudes without normal air traffic restrictions. Major arteries: the 210 and 10 freeways, as well as route 83 and Historic Route 66.
