Dana Point is a coastal city in the southwestern Orange County
region of Southern California. It borders San Clemente
. in the east, San Juan Capistrano in the northeast, Laguna Niguel
in the north, and Laguna Beach
in the west. Dana Point is home to a harbor that was an important trade hub for the area over many years, but is now commercially relevant for different reasons, including its marina, its shops, and its culinary scene.
Housing in Dana Point is notably diverse; for a coastal OC town with high-end cliff-side estates, it has a notably high population of renters (over 58%). Some of the territory north of the city marina is a bit more densely organized, and therefore cheaper to live in. Dana Point's marina-adjacent commercial district is very walkable, though prospective residents without vehicle access will note that most of the rest of the city is not. The Pacific Coast Highway is Dana Point's primary artery. The city is also within striking distance of the 5 freeway.
