Carthay Circle is a small section of a small neighborhood in the Mid-Wilsire / Miracle Mile area of Los Angeles. Some ambiguity persists surrounding what constitutes Carthay Circle versus Carthay Square, South Carthay, or just Carthay, but Carthay Circle is generally understood as the area east of the San Vicente/Wilshire intersection and north of Olympic. Residents enjoy an historic aesthetic and strong centrality—Carthay Circle is within walking or biking distance of Beverly Hills
, The Grove, The Miracle Mile
, and West Hollywood
As far as upscale neighborhoods go, it is a bit busier than you might expect on account of the Wilshire/San Vicente/Olympic/Fairfax/3rd Street conflux, but residents gush over how nice a place it is to live, work, and raise children. Cathay Circle is an Historic Preservation Overlay Zone, so much of its original architecture has never been demolished or redeveloped, lending it an air of elegance. The overall Carthay area is celebrated for its ethnic diversity as compared to the rest of Los Angeles.
