Just east of Hancock Park
, south of Hollywood
, and north of Windsor Square lies Larchmont, an exceptionally small neighborhood of Los Angeles. An estimated 9,000-plus residents live in its 0.49-square-mile geography, making it one of the most densely populated areas in the city. It is also noted for its relatively high ethnic diversity. With historic homes that are well preserved and an old-timey shopping strip along Larchmont Blvd., Larchmont has a charming character about it.
Accessibility is a strong suit: the 101 freeway is just to the east, major throughways like Wilshire are just to the south, and walking/biking/taking the bus are all reasonably practical means of transportation for residents. Larchmont is also close to such local destinations as the Miracle Mile, the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, and Downtown LA
. Families with young children will also note that some of the city's most highly ranked elementary schools are located in Larchmont's vicinity.
