North Park is a neighborhood of San Diego
that borders Balboa Park, University Heights
, Normal Heights, and South Park. For those unfamiliar with San Diego, this area is right in the heart of the city with strong centrality and accessibility, as well as a significant concentration of arts and culture. North Park is awash in cafes and restaurants, cool little bars, art galleries, etc. and is considered somewhat of a hipster haven. It even has a farmer's market and a few microbreweries.
Prospective residents who are interested in the idea of vehicle-free San Diego living will note that North Park is considered eminently walk-able, bike-able, and even bus-able. The neighborhood's proximity to Balboa Park obviously contributes to the feasibility of these alternate modes of transportation; tourists and residents alike flock there for low-key outdoor leisure and for the world-famous San Diego Zoo. North Park borders the 805 and 15 freeways in the east and southeast, respectively, and is within striking distance of the 8 and 163 as well.
