Pacific Beach is a San Diego
neighborhood that lies immediately north of Mission Bay. It also borders La Jolla in the north and, of course, the Pacific Ocean in the west. Pacific Beach has a boardwalk that draws a good deal of pedestrians, cyclists, skateboarders, etc. This stretch of promenade is also awash in little shops and restaurants that both locals and tourists patronize. In this same vein, Pacific Beach plays host to one of the more prominent bar and night life scenes in all of San Diego. Prospective residents who seek a lively neighborhood will feel right at home in the center of the action.
Those inclined toward surfing will find Tourmaline Surfing Park both convenient and enjoyable; in general, all the typical advantages to living in a beach-side neighborhood apply to Pacific Beach, with the added bonus of easy access to Mission Bay and all of its outdoor leisure activities. The 5 freeway, which snakes along Pacific Beach's eastern terminus, is the primary artery for cross-city or cross-county travel.
