About Mission Viejo
Mission Viejo is a suburban, inland city in the southern Orange County region of Southern California. It borders Lake Forest in the north, Rancho Santa Margarita and various unincorporated territories in the east, San Juan Capistrano in the south, and Laguna Hills and Laguna Niguel in the west. Mission Viejo is one of the largest pre-planned communities in the United States; as is the story with many Orange County cities, it came about after a land grant gave way to privately owned ranch lands, which gave way to a meticulously premeditated development project, which eventually gave way to an idyllic, safe, and favorably reputed township.

Mission Viejo is almost exclusively residential, though local organizations like Saddleback University, Unisys, and Mission Hospital each employ more than one thousand workers. Despite being located significantly farther from the coast than most of the well-known upscale OC municipalities, Mission Viejo boasts a high rate of owner-occupied housing, a median income figure north of $95,000 per year, and a reputation as one of the most family-friendly communities in its region. Primary arteries: the 5, 73, and 241 freeways, as well as Alicia Parkway.
