Located about three miles north of the US-Mexico border, Nestor is a large neighborhood in southern San Diego, minutes from the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve, which includesa natural beach, trails, and marshes. Nestor is mainly residential, but it does offer a smattering of shops and restaurants throughout the neighborhood, especially along Coronado Avenue. Just outside the neighborhood boundaries, residents will find ample shopping plazas, including Southland Plaza to the north and Las Americas Premium Outlets near the border. One of the neighborhood’s more unique features is the South Bay Drive-In Theater, which shows double features and current releases. The theatre also holds a swap meet three days a week.
