Santee is an eastern suburb of San Diego
with a mid-sized population and a good deal of not-yet-developed land. It borders Eucalyptus Hills, Lakeside, Winter Gardens, and Bostonia; it also abuts Sycamore County Canyon Park in the north and Mission Trails Regional Park in the west. Santee, like many of its fellow eastern suburbs, exhibits less density and more greenery than San Diego proper. Its proximity to the aforementioned parks, as well as to the San Vicente Reservoir and several other natural reserves to the east, lends it a much more open feel. Santee has the necessary terrain for both golf and mountain biking; both activities are popular with locals and visitors alike.
While Santee lies a ways east within San Diego County, it is reasonably accessible via Routes 125, 52, and 67, which all connect with other major freeways like the 15, 8, and 805 within six or so miles.
