About Thousand Oaks
Thousand Oaks is a large city in the southeast of Ventura County. It is surrounded by such municipalities as Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, Simi Valley, Moorpark, and Camarillo. Thousand Oaks is one of several 101-freeway-adjacent areas from which folks commute improbable distances to work in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles County. This trek is arduous, but thousands of residents make it on a daily basis because Thousand Oaks really is quite a nice place to live. It has a secluded, suburban vibe and lots of green, open space.

The city’s border runs right along the Santa Monica Mountains to the south, which are vast and peaceful and beautiful, and even if the wilderness is not your thing, the Mulholland Highway (23) is a straight shot southward to the gorgeous beaches of Malibu. One of the best things you can say about Thousand Oaks is that it is self-contained; many residents make the trip to LA fairly frequently via the 101 or 118 freeways, but there is plenty of basic commerce in the city itself.
