Marina del Rey is an upscale seaside community in Los Angeles County. It contains a small craft harbor capable of serving as the primary port for over five thousand boats, and a great deal of the sailing and water skiing undertaken by Angelenos is possible because of Marina del Rey's massive nautical facilities. Most residents live in one of several large, luxury apartment complexes along the west side of Lincoln Blvd., though there are some more modest, single-family abodes to the east; housing options range up to top-notch, top-dollar condominiums on the marina. Mobility on foot/by bike within Marina del Rey itself is strong—access to the many restaurants, bars, and other businesses on Lincoln Blvd. is fairly easy, and even something like a stroll up to Abbot Kinney in Venice for a night out is on the table—but most residents opt to access other parts of Los Angeles by car. Luckily, your ritzy beach-side hamlet is actually quite a good launching point for trips across the city, as the 90 is like a personal get-me-to-the-405 expressway and the Pacific Coast Highway is a reasonable way to get north or south along the coast. Primary arteries: the 90 freeway (to the 405), the Pacific Coast Highway.
