About Wilmington
Wilmington is a neighborhood of the City of Los Angeles located in the deepest, most southern territory of the South Bay region. It is adjacent to San Pedro in the south/west, Carson in the north, and Long Beach in the east. Today's Wilmington began to take shape in the 1920's as a housing development; then, in the 1930's, Wilmington Oil Field was discovered and developed. Oil refineries are still a prominent part of the area's economy.

Local Mexican food is really great, and with both San Pedro and Long Beach so close by, there is no shortage of local seafood to enjoy. Wilmington is a decent place from which to commute, as it affords reasonable access to the 110 and 710 freeways (heading north), route 47 (running east-west across Long Beach), and the 405 (running north-south between LA and Orange County). Wilmington is considered quite walkable and, thanks to its flat terrain, reasonably bike-able.
