Winnetka is a midsized, highly diverse, and predominantly middle-class neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley
region of Los Angeles. It is bordered by Woodland Hills
in the south, Canoga Park
in the west, Chatsworth
in the north, and Reseda
in the east. Because it lies in the western periphery of the Valley, Winnetka is a bit more rural than most other neighborhoods in the greater region; after all, it was once a somewhat remote agricultural community.
The foothills of the Santa Monica and Santa Susana Mountains do not pervade Winnetka, but they generally characterize its topography. If you want to live in a relatively quiet, family-friendly community, Winnetka could be perfect for you; if you need to commute to other parts of Los Angeles County, its out-of-the-way status will probably be a sticking point. The 101 to the south and the 118 to the north are Winnetka's major access routes.
