But the popular lake with the same name – and the rest of Mission Trails Regional Park – make this neighborhood ideal for anyone who enjoys hiking, camping, boating, fishing, picnicking, or even birdwatching. It’s also a great neighborhood for students, with Grossmont College on the north side of the neighborhood and San Diego University less than four miles away. Lake Murray is a fairly self-contained neighborhood with several restaurants, shops, grocery stores, and businesses scattered throughout. Grossmont Center, a large shopping mall on the south end of the neighborhood, is next door to the Grossmont Center Certified Farmers Market. A selection of other shops and restaurants are located along Lake Murray Boulevard in the heart of the neighborhood.
