About University Heights
This historic San Diego neighborhood was named for a campus of the University of Southern California that never manifested there. Despite a plan that fell through, Central San Diego’s University Heights still has plenty of energy and amenities to offer.

University Heights is bounded partly by the mesa to the north and west, with its eastern edge lying along Texas St., just short of the 805 freeway. The community abounds with restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and boutiques. Residents will appreciate the 1920s style Spanish Colonial Revival bungalows of Shirley Ann Place, a recently designated historic district that showcases some of the areas surviving architecture.
Apartment renters here will appreciate the nearby freeways, as well as the unmistakable identity of University Heights. Its iconic sign and tree-lined boulevards make it a desirable locale despite its location outside the city.
