Redondo Beach is the southernmost of the ‘Beach Cities’ in Los Angeles County’s South Bay region. It is bordered by Hermosa
and Manhattan Beaches
in the north, Torrance in the east, Palos Verdes Estates in the south, and of course, the Pacific Ocean in the west. Unsurprisingly, Redondo’s most defining characteristic is its beach: from Redondo Pier and its dozens of bars and restaurants to a gorgeous, north-south-running bike/foot path (“The Strand”) to generally well-maintained beach conditions, Redondo Beach is a mainstay Southern California destination.
Housing in the area is almost perfectly split between rental units and single-family homes, with proximity to the beach standing as the primary price determinant. Apart from Redondo’s ‘downtown’ pier area, most of its commerce is concentrated around the Pacific Coast Highway, which is the city’s most significant throughway. Other significant arteries include Torrance Blvd., Aviation Blvd., Manhattan Beach Blvd., and Artesia Blvd. Redondo Beach is, on the whole, quite walkable and bike-able.
