About Simi Valley
The Simi Valley is both a city and a region in the southeast of Ventura County. It lies near Moorpark, Thousand Oaks, and Chatsworth and is probably best understood as a part of the Greater Los Angeles Area. Like Santa Clarita, a distant neighbor to the northeast, Simi Valley funnels many commuters down into the San Fernando Valley and exhibits both a rural vibe and striking natural beauty in the form of mountain vistas. The city itself is home to more than 120,000 residents spread out across a relatively low population density and housed primarily in owner-occupied, single-family homes.

Simi Valley is firmly car-dependent, but those seeking to use alternate transportation methods will note that Simi Valley Station has Metrolink trains running through it on their Ventura to Downtown LA routes. Primary arteries for the Simi Valley area include the 118/23 and 101 freeways, which connect (eventually) to the 405 and 5; additionally, Route 27 (Topanga Canyon Rd.) can get you south to Malibu.
