Pomona is a relatively populous city in the Pomona Valley region of Los Angeles County. It would be easy to mistake the smallish Pomona Valley—which consists only of Claremont, La Verne, and Pomona—as a part of the much larger San Gabriel Valley
region, but they are both geographically and nominally distinct. Pomona's geography is significant because of its hybridity; it is one of the easternmost cities in the county, sitting uncomfortably far from most of what you would consider 'LA,' but quite close to both the SGV and the Inland Empire
The Pomona area is teeming with higher education, from Cal State Poly Pomona to the Claremont Colleges in the north, which fosters a bustling, youthful energy. Residents enjoy perks like: the visual pleasures of close proximity to the San Gabriel Mountains, vibrant local cultural events like the LA County Fair, and a significant number of registered historic places. Prominent arteries: the 10, 71, 60, and 57 freeways.
