Serra Mesa is a community that lies smack-dab in the middle of San Diego. It borders Linda Vista and parts of Mission Valley
, as well as Montgomery Field, as is generally circumscribed by the 805, 8, and 15 freeways and Route 163. Serra Mesa is blanketed almost entirely by single-family housing units, though it does border Qualcomm Stadium and the commercial area surrounding it to the south. The area has a few small parks, but is fairly thoroughly developed—though not densely so.
One of Serra Mesa's best selling points is its centrality and accessibility; residents can commute west toward Mission Bay, southwest toward Downtown San Diego
—or anywhere else in the county, really—without traveling very far as the crow flies or driving circuitously to end up on an appropriate freeway. This convenience does rely on your access to a vehicle as Serra Mesa is not especially good for walking/biking/busing around, so keep that in mind if you are shopping around for areas that accommodate alternate modes of transportation.
