About Moorpark
Moorpark is a sizeable town in the southeast of Ventura County. It is generally surrounded by the Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Somis, and Fillmore. The town is noted for housing Moorpark College, a small community college with an exotic animal training program, and for the Sodium Reactor Experiment, a nuclear reactor that ran for several years in the area and helped bring notoriety to nuclear power in the United States. Moorpark residents enjoy striking natural beauty and open, green spaces; Happy Camp Canyon Park lies just to the north of the town, and the Santa Monica and Santa Susana Mountains encircle it.

Overall, Moorpark has a very nonmetropolitan, hidden-away character, which is perfect for privacy and for avoiding the frenetic energy of the Los Angeles Basin. Of course, these perks come at the expense of accessibility, as the only true arteries running through Moorpark are the 118 and the 23 (which connects to the 101). It is reasonable to light out across LA County for a day trip, but much less reasonable to commute there daily.
