About Normal Heights
Normal Heights is a neighborhood in the middle of San Diego. It borders Mission Valley, Kensington, and the University Heights area and is circumscribed by the 15, 805, and 8 freeways. The name “Normal Heights” comes from the teachers college that used to reside in this area; nowadays, it is a centrally located and easily accessible little neighborhood with an agreeable balance of residential and commercial zoning. One noteworthy local destination is a little patch of antique stores known as Antique Row.

As far as residences are concerned, Normal Heights is awash in small and mid-sized houses, eschewing especially tall buildings for the most part. Prospective residents who are wondering about the viability of living without a car in San Diego will be delighted to know that Normal Heights is very walk-able, bike-able, and even reasonably bus-able. Balboa Park, which lies a little ways to the southeast, helps enable this transportation culture.
