About Old Town
Old Town San Diego is located just to the southeast of Mission Bay and south of the University of San Diego. It also borders Mission Hills and the Midway District and sits just a few miles north of San Diego International Airport. As its name would suggest, Old Town was the first area of San Diego that was settled by Europeans—in fact, it holds the 'oldest settlement' honor for all of California. Today, Old Town is awash in restaurants, boutiques, and hotels. It plays host to countless community events and celebrations, mostly in either Old Town San Diego State Historic Park or Presidio Park. Old Town's character is perhaps best described as quaint, largely owing to its beautiful historic architecture, much of which has been meticulously well preserved.

Centrality and accessibility are relative strong suits for the area: the 8 and 5 freeways delineate Old Town's borders to the north and west, respectively, and most of San Diego County is within striking distance from there.
