San Carlos is a hilly neighborhood in the east of San Diego. It borders La Mesa, Del Cerro, Allied Gardens, and Mission Trails Regional Park. Mission Bay, Downtown San Diego, various beaches, and other common destinations for both commuting and leisure activity are within ten miles to the west/southwest of San Carlos. Prospective residents without vehicle access should note that this neighborhood is extremely car-dependent.
