Bel-Air, arguably, is the wealthiest neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles. The gated community was founded in 1923 by Alphonzo E. Bell (a rich guy) and is considered part of the "Golden Triangle" of Beverly Hills, Holmby Hills and Bel Air.

Located twelve miles to the west of downtown Los Angeles, Bel Air resides in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains. Just to the south of Bel Air is the UCLA campus. The typical UCLA student cannot afford to live in Bel Air and insteads opts for a Westwood apartment or a Westwood Condo.

Bel Air is where the big-timers reside in LA. At one time Bel Air had many modest ranches, but development and new wealth has led to the construction of numerous mansions. Many visitors to Los Angeles, after lunch on the beach in Santa Monica, take the drive east on Sunset Blvd., then onto Bel Air where they gaze at the wealth and opulence.

Bel Air also offers magnificent views of the City of Los Angeles. On a clear day you can see the high rise buildings of downtown LA as well as the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. Star gazers can purchase maps to the homes of famous hollywood stars on many of the Bel Air roads.
