About Costa Mesa
Costa Mesa is a populous city in the Orange County region of Southern California that has grown rapidly over the past few decades. It borders several central OC municipalities, including Newport Beach in the south and west, Irvine in the east, Santa Ana and Fountain Valley in the north, and Huntington Beach in the west. Costa Mesa falls into the category of ‘near-coastal’; while it lies comfortably within striking distance of the beach, its would-be coastal territory is owned by its neighbor, Newport Beach.

Coast or no coast, Costa Mesa exhibits vibrant service and commerce industries—bars, restaurants, shops, etc.—and is, like most cities in Orange County, rather a nice place to live. Primary arteries include the 55, 405, and 73 freeways, as well as the Pacific Coast Highway. Some areas of Costa Mesa are reasonably walkable, and in general, even moderate walkability should be considered a huge advantage over most cities in Orange County.

The unit is clean, light, and gets a nice cool breeze in the evenings. The unit is already loaded with a refrigerator, and washer/dryer down in the garage. I have a couch, loveseat, and ottoman already, but a dining table couldn't hurt. Half the kitchen is empty at the moment and can accommodate all your own food and cooking gear. Full disclosure: the total rent is $1900, with the split price resulting from my marginally larger personal room and my exclusive use of the 2-car garage. Per the landlord, you will need to submit to both a background and credit check (he will pay for it) and sign on for a year lease (we re-up once a year). Also, PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED per the rental agreement. PLEASE NO SMOKING, NO VAPING (neither inside nor outside), and NO DRUGS (yes, even weed). The landlord has kept our rent below market for a few years simply because we have taken immaculate care of his property, and he expects no less from whoever is invited to move in. Parking is suuuuper easy on Costa Mesa St... I've never had to park anywhere more than a couple houses away. The neighbors on either side of us have been living here for ~30 years, and are mellow. The neighbors in the front house are quiet and keep to themselves. The house is 1 block from Mother's Market and Triangle Square. There are 6 supermarkets within a mile or so, as well as a bunch of bars, a movie theater, two 24-hour Fitness clubs, Yogaworks, and more Crossfit gyms than you can shake a stick at. Freeway access is a piece of cake too as the end of the 55 Freeway is 1 block away! Here's the breakdown of your private area: Your room: 11' x 10' (with additional 2' x 9' closet) Your bathroom: 9' x 5' (directly across the hall from your room) Common space: Living room: 24' x 14' Kitchen: 12' x 9' (half the storage space is yours - ample, trust me!) Linen closet and coat closet: 3' x 2' (each) Other nice perks: I have a Weber BBQ and a Bradley Smoker if you're into that sort of thing. We have a private, gated patio (can't be seen from the street!) to ourselves with plenty of storage space outside for a bike(s). It's a great space for patio parties, as well as catching some rays in one of the Adirondack chairs in the afternoon. I'm a single, 32 year-old professional dude with a full time job. I run a membership-based workshop up in Irvine, so I'm not around much except for in the evenings. Basically people pay a membership fee to use our tools, equipment, and space to build their own projects. We also teach classes on how to use everything in the shop. As you can imagine, I'm up early-ish (6-7am) and I try to be in bed by 10ish. I don't mind if you're on a different schedule as long as you're not keeping me awake at night.
