About Los Alamitos
Los Alamitos is a small city in the northwestern Orange County region of Southern California. It borders Cypress in the north, Garden Grove in the east, Seal Beach in the south, and Rossmoor, an upscale unincorporated community, in the west. Los Alamitos—or “Los Al,” as some locals call it—hosts a significant military presence in the form of the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Center and the Los Alamitos Army Airfield, both of which occupy large swaths of its territory. The rest is primarily residential.

Housing is split almost dead-evenly between owner-occupied homes and rental units, which does not seem commensurate with the city's $80,000-plus median annual income figure until one considers that Orange County is generally somewhat expensive. Of course, this does not preclude Los Alamitos from being a swell place to live, which is it. It is a quiet city, perhaps unideal for those seeking a flashy night life, but great for families. Primary arteries: the 605 and 405 freeways and Katella Ave.
