Scripps Ranch was once a privately owned estate covering about 1,200 acres, but is now a community within the City of San Diego
. It borders such areas as Poway, Santee, Miramar, and Mission Trails Regional Park. Scripps Ranch is relatively affluent—as of 2008, its median annual household income was over $140,000—and one need not look too far to discover why it is considered such a desirable place to live: it is in a perfect location for 'bedroom community' status, yet it boasts intense natural beauty and open, green space, from Lake Miramar to Sycamore Canyon County Park to eucalyptus trees in its local public landscaping.
The combination of Route 52, which runs east-west along Scripps Ranch's southern border, and the 15 freeway/15 freeway-Route 163 junction, which runs along its western border, offers excellent centrality and accessibility within San Diego County. The 805 and 8 freeways are also within striking distance.
