Westchester is bordered by the Imperial Highway in the south, the 405 freeway in the east (except for a small appendage to the northeast), Bluff Creek Drive in the north, and Pershing Drive in the west—in other words, it encompasses a few dozen residential blocks, Loyola Marymount University's campus, and the sixth busiest international airport in the world, LAX. Residential neighborhoods in this area are notably quiet and secluded for how in-the-middle-of-things Westchester is geographically.
Crime is low and education is strong, making it an ideal place for families. Most of the area's commerce is concentrated around Lincoln and Manchester Blvds., where most basic errands are easy to accomplish. Residents who wish to eat out or take a daytime excursion can also mosey over to Marina del Rey
or Manhattan Beach
. In general, Westchester's proximity to major throughways like the 405, the PCH, La Cienega, and the 105 renders it a reasonable base from which to commute.
